I’m sure most of you know what a big part of my life guitars are (although I recognize that He is and should always be the reason I do it
..)
But anyways, here are the 3 guitarists that I really love! Of course there are many more that I like, you’ll be surprised how many talented people there are out there, even on youtube!
1. Lincoln Brewster
- No surprises here! Everyone who knows me knows how much I love this guy and what he does. Just his story alone is inspiring and he is an amazing player with a great heart for God. His techniques and tone and phrasing are really in line with what I like. Music is such a subjective thing with so many styles and preferences out there…Its mind boggling to see how something like jazz works especially when you start looking at the theory part of it….I once saw a video where this old timer (oklar i mean to say old uncle but in a nice way
) played a complex jazz lick and then proceeded to start explaining the theory behind it….I couldn’t even process what he just played to begin with and the theory part was just crazy! he explained the chords behind what he just did and the scales he used….but I digress, to put it simply- I dig Lincoln Brewster’s playing from his vibrato to his bends and choice of notes and rhythm and truly just what he represents!

2. John Mayer
-This guy is a monster. When he first came out the chicks digged him and the guys scoffed at the idea of him. Now everyone loves him! Which makes him a pretty smart guy I think because he probably would not have been as successful if he had come out with a guitar driven album first. If he had done that, only guitarists and musicians would have appreciated him. Now the girls scream when he plays the blues! Way to go John Mayer for bringing blues back to the mainstream! In terms of technique, he is brilliant of course. His sense of rhythm I think is what really impresses me. His style (hugely inspired by his guitar hero SRV and Hendrix) is great and with just the right amount of “pop-piness” in it to make it something everyone can relate to….Even Lincoln Brewster said in an interview that he really likes what John is doing musically…His acoustic stuff is brilliant and his performance of Human Nature on MJ’s funeral was jaw dropping…..Don’t think I even need to say much coz everyone I know loves him…

3. Eddie Van Halen
- A LEGEND. Super fun and tongue-in-cheek kind of playing…Again to me the right amount of Classic Rock and “pop-piness” to keep everyone interested……His playing is just super expressive and of course, technically brilliant. The man who made 2 hand tapping famous. People have said that there were others who did it first but it was definitely EVH that made it famous…His rhythm stuff and chordwork is great as well…
Always forgets to wear his shirt onstage and has one of the most iconic guitars in history….

Hey guys,
I’ve been so so busy with work the past few weeks that I really hadn’t had the time to blog. Its Sunday night now and I’m sitting here wondering where the weekend went again..haha…each week goes by really quickly actually as a result of being so busy I think. But its really great to be able to go to church on Sundays and to be in His presence. I think Sunday mornings are really the highlights of my week and what really helps me get through the weeks. Today’s service was great and from the bottom of my heart- “A job really well done to the BB and GB! Praise God!” Uncle Sam was the speaker and his sermon was great.. one thing that he said that will definitely stick to me is “To be a great leader for God you must first get down on your knees” or something along those lines….really true and humbling! And Mei Yan you did an awesome job leading this week and playing last week too! Keep it up and I’m really proud to see how much you’ve grown in Him!
I went to KL Wesley for a worship workshop yesterday. It was nice being a participant instead and it was a humbling experience..I think its easy to be proud and to think that you know everything already but God really reminded me to be humble and to have a teachable heart! A big thanks to the worship team from COOS!
Firefly (the airline) finally flies to Singapore now and I’m hoping to be able to go sometime in July. Was hoping to go this week but I just could not see it happening..wayyy too many things going on….oh man! In other news Lyd is now a Mac convert! Muahaha and I finally rebuilt my Hackintosh on a more compatible motherboard..everything works perfectly now and its really nice! For the uninformed, a Hackintosh is basically a normal (non apple) PC with the Mac operating system installed. Until recently this has not been possible because of the difference in the architecture of apples hardware…Or something like that lah..Now that Apple uses Intel based processors, resourceful people have found a way to get the Mac OSX to work with regular PC hardware..Haha I installed it just for the challenge of doing it initially but the Mac OSX has really grown on me and I’m sure there will be a Mac in my life sometime in the future! The fonts do take a lot of getting used to though!
Anyways, for PW members- we will be having a worship and prayer night this Friday at 730 pm! Dinner will be provided (Catered from our very own Menorah Cafe!) and it will be a time for us to come together for worship and prayer…Pastor RIcky will also be sharing a short message and we will be going through the direction of the service for the second quarter. Everyone in the Praise and Worship Ministry team is invited! Mich will be sending out the notices soon!

Hey guys,
MYF Sunday in Trinity PJ is next week, so do come and support the youth! The youth will be leading worship and doing an item….They have been working hard so its gonna be great! Also uphold them in your prayers and may His name be glorified in all that they do!
See you there next week, 31st May at 10.45 am in the sanctuary!
On another note, please pray for me too! This week is gonna be tough I think….this verse is awesome though-
John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
And oh!
Adam Lambert singing with KISS was spectacular!!!!!!! Haha I’m sure many people won’t like it and will be going “what in the world…” while shaking their heads but that was so fun and so rock and roll!
I’m not gonna say Adam was robbed or whatever they are saying because American Idol is a popularity contest.. probably more so than it is a singing contest so I’m not surprised….but to me, musically he is the best I’ve ever seen in the show so far! I am so impressed and if you love music but have not seen him sing, please please youtube him or something….his musicality is just astonishing to see!

Was just thinking of this verse the past few days and stumbled upon this post. Just quoting it as it is written by someone else-
Psalm 103:12
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (NIV)
Note that David says east and west not north and south. The distance between north and south is finite. You can only go so far north and you must then start going south; the same with going south. You can travel east or travel west forever. The distance between east and west is infinite.
Now, it’s interesting that David himself would not have known this, not having the geographical knowledge that we have today. Perhaps to him, the distance between east and west was finite and thus no different than the distance between north and south.
But as the Word of God is written inspired of God, God knows that the distance between east and west is infinite and knew what he wanted this verse to say to us.
Our transgressions are removed so far from us as to be infitely far.

Its coming to that time of the year again..uh ohh…Hehe but yeah as much as I “complain” I think we are so privileged to be able serve in this area and I really thank God for that…
So yeah last year we went to Ipoh and we are still deciding on where we should go this year…any suggestions? Its either down south- Seremban, Melaka and Johor or up north- Penang and Alor Setar… but we are really open to suggestions at this point..
By the way, the youth team including Michelle Chen (yes she is still a youth, dun kacau her!!
) did really well last week! You guys sounded great and I’m so proud of how much each of you have grown…..continue to serve Him with all your heart, soul and might!

You can say that its scripted, cheesy or that they were paid actors but one thing is for certain.. the season finale of this seasons The Bachelor is TV at its best. It moved people, made them feel funny inside, tugged at peoples hearts and stayed in peoples minds. I for one was sold! I actually felt sorry for the girl and pretty upset at the guy…sure I know its just TV and its probably hours of my life that I will never get back but it sure was entertaining. Everyone who knows me knows how much of a tv freak I am but I have not been this impressed at how much a show affects someone for such a long time. I think American Idol sort of gives you the same feeling too sometimes, which explains why its so amazingly popular.
I wont say what happened in this seasons The Bachelor (Jason Mesnick)…if you are a fan of reality TV shows, this is something you really must watch for yourself…

P/s- Lydia thinks this show is morally wrong and sending the wrong messages and is a pure waste of time……………she’s probably right but its fantastic!

Man, I’ve been really down and tired lately..I’m not quite sure why exactly though..but today I heard “Your grace is enough” by Chris Tomlin and that really made things better..JC rocks as always!
The first 2 lines are my favourite!
Great is Your faithfulness oh God
You wrestle with the sinner’s heart
You lead us by still waters and to mercy
And nothing can keep us apart
So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me
Great is Your love and justice God
You use the weak to lead the strong
You lead us in the song of Your salvation
And all Your people sing along
So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me [x2]
